China Promises More Openness For Possible Beijing 2022

China has promised to be more open in an event that they will be given the opportunity to host the Winter Olympics in 2022, a Chinese government official said on Wednesday.

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the spokesman of team behind the 2022 bid, Wang Hui, said that China will be open up the country’s internet in that sites which have been blocked in the country such as Google search and Twitter will be accessible. Hew went on to state that much of talk that is surrounding the openness of China in an event that they are given the task of hosting the even is overblown.

While speaking to Reuters, Wang said that, "Everyone always brings up Facebook and Twitter, but people around me don't like to use it."
She added that China’s web users, 650 million, are comfortable with homegrown alternatives that are present such as WeChat and Weibo.

"If you gave [Facebook and Twitter] to me, I would not use them," Wang said, according to Reuters.

China has been known to prevent his internet users from accessing many U.S. based sites for a very long time now. The censorship that is in the country is actually a law that has been initiated by the country’s ruling party which has been accused on several occasion with regards to limiting free speech as well as stop the citizens in China from sharing their thoughts on a number of sensitive subjective in the country. That said the country made extreme measures earlier this year so as to ensure that it is more difficult fr citizens to access sites which have been blocked.
